Did You Know The black mambas (Dendroaspis polylepis) are the fastest snakes in the world. They can move at the speed of 20 miles per hour. They use their speed not to hunt prey, but rather escape threats.

There’s a reason why this snake is also one of the deadliest. If provoked it will repeatedly strike, and with each bite inject a deadly amount of cardiotoxin and neurotoxic venom. Its bite can kill a human being in less than 20 minutes.

They get their name from the black of the inside of their mouth. They are brown in color.
